Learning about literature: Travelling through the literary landscape

Presented by Dr Lorraine McDonald


In her presentation, Dr Lorraine McDonald will review the knowledge, understandings and skills that teachers will need to appreciate to teach literary texts. Aspects of these domains will be demonstrated through a range of literary texts. The presentation will also make links to the NSW Syllabus for the Australian Curriculum: English K-10 Syllabus.

Dr Lorraine McDonald is an Honorary Fellow, School of Education, Australian Catholic University, Sydney. Lorraine, a former classroom teacher, has taught programs in Literacy Education, Linguistics, ESL and Literature for Children and Young Adults. Lorraine contributed to the multi-modal and literary teaching/learning experiences within the Global Words online resource as a content editor. Lorraine is also the author of A Literature Companion for Teachers published by PETAA.

The presentation will be FREE for PETAA Members. Non-members are welcome to attend, however a small fee will apply.
