Description
|
This course describes the skills required for effective listening and speaking and
examines some classroom strategies to support students to develop their oral
language. It highlights the importance of oral language as a tool for learning and
the ways in which teachers can support students’ cognitive development through
planned activities and talk that is dialogic in nature. The specific challenges for ESL
learners will also be addressed.
Participants will:
-Explore activities designed to develop oral language skills
-Examine the role of teacher and student talk as a tool for learning
-Examine issues for planning appropriate oral tasks
-Consider ways of assessing students’ oral language development
