An outstanding literacy resource, Lest We Forget, developed by (PETAA) was demonstrated to schools from QLD, NSW and Victoria with the support of Electroboard Education.
Teachers from Greenwich Public School, St Mary’s North Sydney, North Sydney Demonstration and Cammeray Public School attended the “live event” and teachers from Waitara Public School NSW, All Saints Anglican School QLD, Manor Lakes College VIC , Orange Public School and St Anthony’s Picton NSW joined the workshop remotely via video conference.
Jenifer Asha led the group of teachers through the resource using a Prowise interactive panel demonstrating the beautiful imagery of the texts and primary source documents and resources, the links to the Australian curriculum and the related book titles carefully selected for each year group.
The teachers provided feedback that it was an outstanding event and a very useful resource. They were 'very grateful for the opportunity provided by the workshop to understand the structure of the resource, the assessment rubrics and student activities'.
Lest we Forget comprises six literature-based units of work for PETAA members. Each classroom unit of work represents approximately five weeks duration in four teaching and learning sequences, with interactive worksheets, a summative assessment task, supporting teacher resources for background on the ANZACs and WW1 campaigns, and links to the Australian Curriculum: English and New South Wales and Victorian syllabus outcomes.
Penny Hutton, who works as a Professional Learning Consultant for PETAA, led a team of writers to develop the digital resource to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the ANZAC Landings at Galipolli.
