Megan Edwards
CEO

Megan has over 15 years' experience in general management, stakeholder engagement, financial strategy, operations, membership experience, marketing and communications, with nearly a decade in the not for profit sector. She graduated from Kings College London in 2006 with a BA in English Literature and has an English teacher for her mother. She has a passion for English Language and Literature and the critical work that PETAA does to help support our teachers around Australia with imparting literacy knowledge and skills to primary school children. 

Aileen Tang
Head of Membership and Operations

Aileen has been working for not-for-profit associations both internationally and in Australia for the last 15 years. She started her career in event management after graduating from University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Art (Informatic), majoring in Information Systems and Japanese, then developed her knowledges and skills in membership recruitment and retention strategies and operations in various industry associations and organisation for entrepreneurs. Aileen has a passion for learning and development for the public sector, especially as a mum with young children who wants to ensure our teachers have the right tools and resources to achieve the best student outcomes.

Cassie Toungue Marketing and Communciations Coordinator

Cassie Tongue
Head of Marketing and Communications

Cassie has been working in not-for-profit communications, media, marketing and program operations for the last decade. She believes in the power of a good story, especially when it can shed light on people who make positive change — people like teachers and educators. She joined PETAA in 2017 after working at Keep Australia Beautiful on their communications, marketing and branding, and was closely involved with their slate of environmentally conscious community programs, including Tidy Towns. She studied Communications (Media Studies) at the University of Newcastle and still fondly remembers all the primary school teachers that encouraged her appetite for reading and writing.

Karen Rodgers Literacy Leader

Karen Rogers
Literacy Leader, VIC State Manager

As a committed learner herself, Karen is excited to be joining PETAA as Literacy Leader for Victoria. Her passion for enabling agency through literacy has guided her time as a classroom teacher and led her to complement her M.Teach with a M.Ed (Literacy Education) from the University of Melbourne. She has worked in initial teacher education and finds joy in sharing her enthusiasm for literacy teaching with other educators. Karen also holds qualifications in Medical Science from the University of Canberra as well as a M.Info.Sci (Children’s Librarianship) from CSU. She looks forward to supporting teachers to translate quality research and theory into authentic and meaningful classroom learning experiences for all students.

Elaine Luo
Senior Membership Officer 

Elaine graduated from UNSW with a Bachelor of Arts in Media and started her career in a fast-paced hospitality group. During that time she honed her skills in media communication, business administration, and customer care. She's delighted to be bringing those skills to PETAA where, as the membership officer, she supports the team and assists PETAA's members in navigating the valuable resources and professional services that PETAA has to offer.

Angelica Stodart
Events Coordinator 

Angelica has a background in working with people of all ages, graduating with a Bachelor of Social Work and Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, which have given her insight and knowledge in working collaboratively with others in a kind, inclusive way. Her passions include supporting continual improvement to the education sector and engaging in early-intervention strategies with children and young people. She is a keen lover of literature and creative storytelling and has always firmly believed in the importance and power of engaging children in the process of storytelling, questioning, and learning through literacy. She is excited to bring these interests and skillsets to PETAA by assisting the Professional Learning team with coordinating learning events, enrolment, and state programs. 

Nicholas Sutedja
Digital Marketing Officer

An avid reader, Nicholas has always enjoyed writing and reading which lead to his passion for marketing and communications. Over the past 6 years he has honed his skills in email marketing, social media content and copywriting and has worked in various industries including real estate, disability and aged care. As the Digital Marketing Officer, he is keen to bring these skills to PETAA where he supports us by creating relevant and informative content for our members.

Nicola Denton
Membership Service Officer

Since graduating from Actor’s Centre Australia with a Bachelor of Performance (Stage and Screen), Nicola has endeavoured to find ways to share her appetite for learning. With a background teaching acting to primary school aged children at Smarty Pants Drama and Mindchamps Champion Mindset Theatre, Nicola brings to PETAA a passion for teaching children empathy and inspiring creativity through storytelling. As a Membership Service Officer, she is excited to be utilising her customer service experience gained through her previous roles in retail and hospitality to help teachers inspire a love of reading and writing in their students.

Joseph Dang
Customer Service Administrator

Joseph’s background is rooted in education, graduating from UTS with a Bachelor of Education & Arts. Over the last 6 years, he has worked in different education sectors including adult education at an international RTO, within NSW public schools and extracurricular music. During this time, he has also cultivated administrative skills, customer service and IT skills to improve the education sector. With a passion and appreciation for literature and film, he understands the importance of literacy and aims to use his skills at PETAA for the betterment of the education sector.
