ONLINE: Teaching Knowledge for The Art and Craft of Writing
An ONLINE workshop for members only, presented and  moderated by Dr ROD CAMPBELL

Teaching students the knowledge and skills for writing English can be creative, engaging and effective. This self paced online workshop will give teachers strategies and resources that can be used immediately in the classroom.The course is divided into two main parts with modules in each.
Part 1: Introduction to English Language and Sentence Grammar
Part 2: Advanced Sentence Grammar and Cohesion
Participants can work through these units at their own pace and will be expected to provide comments and reflections. Dr Rod Campbell will moderate the course so participants have the opportunity to interact with him as well as with other workshop participants.

Teaching students the knowledge and skills for writing English can be creative, engaging and effective. This online workshop will give teachers strategies and resources that can be used immediately in the classroom. In Part 1: Introduction to English Language and Sentence Grammar, participants will: *develop several teaching strategies for teaching the sentence grammar of English *develop knowledge and skills for encouraging students' vocabulary development while learning grammar *learn how to develop student and classroom use of the metalanguage of English *learn how to use the open-class parts of speech (adjective, noun, verb and adverb) to teach the uses of noun groups, adjectival phrases and clauses in writing In Part 2: Advanced Sentence Grammar and Cohesion ,participants will: *develop several teaching strategies for teaching grammar and cohesion in English *learn how to develop student and classroom use of the metalanguage of English *learn how to teach the closed parts of speech (prepositions, conjunctions, pronouns and determiners), and their function within sentences and between parts of texts *learn systems of cohesion and how these function for composing texts and for comprehending texts *develop systems for teaching students to take responsibility for their own writing and crafting of written texts
