Exploring How Texts Work: New edition
This 30th anniversary edition of a PETAA classic investigates how texts work to achieve their purposes. We venture beyond the surface, into the structure and language features of different genres, and explore how they make meaning. Our quest is to find useful ways of talking about language in the classroom and to use this common understanding to compose effective texts. The first edition made a substantial impact on literacy teaching when published in 1990 and it remains a relevant and practical teaching resource today. This is a book for new teachers who want to develop their own learning around language and text, as well as experienced teachers who might benefit from reflecting on the sources of their professional practice.
