FREE WEBINAR Teaching English Grammar Easily and Effectively
Rod Campbell is the presenter of  TEACHING KNOWLEDGE FOR THE ART AND CRAFT of WRITING. These courses could also be titled Teaching English Grammar Easily and Effectively. Teachers are shown how to use the language and experiences that children bring to their learning in order to understand and use metalinguistic terms like clause, phrase, and the parts of speech when talking about texts. That knowledge is developed and strengthened as they interact with the written texts in guided reading lessons, and in the writing they produce for providing information and for creative expression. The courses are not about rules and conventions, even though these  aspects of English are important. The classroom strategies and tactics available to teachers in the courses and in the accompanying textbook* have provided thousands of Australian teachers with the knowledge and teaching skills to learn about English as they teach their students to write and read. The teaching strategies and information in the courses and book are grounded in theories drawn from Halliday, Freeborn, Crystal and other writers about language and linguistics. Accompanying the course are detailed systems for diagnosing student writing abilities and needs, building student skills and the crafting of their writing, and systems for formative assessment and summative evaluation of writing and oral language.   *Rod Campbell & Graham Ryles (2018) Teaching English Grammar: A Handbook for Australian Teachers  2nd edition, Pearson, Melbourne.
