Joanne Rossbridge

3 Hours

> 16 January - 27 February 2023

Seeking a deeper understanding of how and why we can support students in the joint construction of imaginative texts? This course will study joint construction during the planning, drafting and publishing phases in the process of writing. Course participants will examine examples of quality literature to consider choice of modelled texts and to learn how and when to focus on particular features. This knowledge will then be applied to jointly constructing texts.

Why participate?

  • Learn ways to read model texts in order to identify a focus on language choices across a range of quality, imaginative texts.
  • Explore aspects of teacher talk and strategies, including 'share the pen' and use of mini whiteboards for developing student engagement.
  • Unpack how you can support students to extend the use of metalanguage within the context of jointly constructing text.

Who should participate?

  • For teachers of students F–6
