Enhancing reading through quality literature and drama

Enhancing reading through quality literature and drama
2018  Presented by Prof. ROBYN EWING
This workshop will explore a contemporary picture book and a novel through process drama strategies. It will enable teachers to gain an understanding of and expertise in using drama strategies with quality texts. This will include an investigation of readers' theatre with a focus on the process of script development from both teachers' and children's perspectives. How drama strategies can be seamlessly embedded in English (and cross-curricular literacy) programmes will be explicitly discussed. Participants will gain confidence in selecting quality literature for the primary classroom, begin to develop expertise in embedding process drama strategies in the English and literacy classroom and understand the role of process drama in the development of critical literacy outcomes for students.
