What is the course about?
This inspiring course will show teachers how to use quality children’s literature to engage children in ‘close’ reading and writing. The course uses effective evidence-based strategies to deepen children's understanding and use of language, sentence structure, image and context in all three strands of the Australian Curriculum, English Vs 9. This course uses modelling and concept-based learning to develop teacher skills in the teaching of reading comprehension and narrative writing.

- Increase teacher confidence in using fiction texts and images to examine exactly what successful writers do
- Apply analytical approaches to the consideration of texts and images
- Select appropriate text passages and images to improve student writing

How does it work?
- Individuals: Upon registration individuals will be sent confirmation and a follow up email with event details 1 week from event. Members covered by a School PETAA Account must contact their PETAA administrator for assistance with registering and billing to school, or alternatively by calling the Professional Learning Team on 02 8020 3900 to make a booking via phone.
- Group Booking (up to 25 staff): School account holder must email us the names, job titles and email addresses of teachers they wish to enrol. An invoice will then be provided for payment.
